Bloc Party reunite

Bloc Party have reunited over the festive period.

The band have been on a hiatus since 2009 as each member focusses on their individual projects. The band posted a picture on their twitter account which shows the band all together once again.

Kele stated earlier this year that he was unsure if the band would ever record again... Hopefully he was joking as it would be great to see them working together again.

Winehouse lyrics found in bin

Early lyrics from a young Amy Winehouse have surfaced in a bin in the north London area. The adolescent musings include a collection of lyrics, thoughts and notes handwritten in the singer's diary.

Winehouse is currently on the comeback trail with a tour planned to commence in 2011.

Flaming Lips in 2011

Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips has told The Guardian newspaper about the band's plans for the coming year. Coyne says that the band plans to release a song each month for 2011 instead of releasing a conventional album.

The process is said to commence in late January when the band will meet with longtime producer Dave Fridmann and get the first song ready for release.

Gorillaz over?

Damon Albarn announced last night the current Gorillaz lineup are unlikely to perform as a collective ever again. The band finished their world tour last night in Auckland and an obviously emotional and sentimental Albarn told the audience that the artists including Daley and Bobby Womack may not tour again.

As announced earlier this week, a free Gorillaz album is set to be released on Christmas day as the final treat of their advent calendar.

Bez and the bare knuckle fight

Bez of the Happy Mondays has found a unique and old school way to deal with his woman trouble. Bez has apparently been involved in an organised bare knuckle fight with his ex's new boyfriend to sort the situation out.

Bez was photographed by The Sun and wasnt looking too good, hopefully all this is sorted now before either get another kick-in.

Another ridiculous anecdote in the life of the ex-Monday.

50 Cent gets robbed... of wine

Today greeted me with a rather piece of ridiculous news concerning rapper 50 Cent. The rapper's Connecticut home was visited by police early this morning after they were alerted by 50's security. The security team were suspicious as they saw a vehicle parked on the driveway that they did not recognise.

The police searched the house and found two stoners in the closet drinking the rapper's wine. The two were promptly escorted off the premises and arrested.

The Human League - "Credo" tracklisting

Following the announcement last month that The Human League were to record a new album and go on tour, the tracklisting to their 10th studio album "Credo" has be released.

The album is set to be released in March 2011 and will consist of the following:

"Never let Me Go"
"Night People"
"Into The Night"
"Single Minded"

"Get Together"
"Breaking The Chains"

A Tribe Called Quest - documentary not happening?

Q Tip has tweeted to state that he is against the much anticipated (and very delayed) documentary about the seminal rap collective.

Q Tip said that he was not happy with Michael Rappaport's attempt at the documentary and says that it has "holes". What has sparked this sudden beef is unknown and Q has been vague about his inclusion during the whole process. However it is fair to say that a documentary about ATCQ without Q Tip would be a real shame for fans.

Susan Philipsz wins Turner Prize

Susan Philipsz has won the Turner Prize for her sound installation which consists of the artist singing three versions of a Scottish lament.

Philipsz beat stiff competition from The Otolith Group, Angela de la Cruz and Dexter Dalwood to pick up the prestigious award and the £25,000 prize money.

The artist told the BBC that the news had not yet sunk in that she was pleased for the exposure that the award will give her. The Stuckists have criticised the award stating that the Turner Prize should be awarded to a piece of art, not a conceptual piece of music. Apart from this criticism, the result has been applauded for given sound art a much needed "shot in the arm".

Gorillaz over?

Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have hinted that Gorillaz could be ending following a fantastically successful year.

The pair told The Guardian that this would be the perfect time for the group to call it a day. The band have just completed their first worldwide tour and Albarn is not convinced that they can continue at their current pace.

However, Albarn has recently said that he has almost completed the next Gorillaz album which could be out early January. The album has reportedly been created using only an Apple iPad despite the group currently endorsing Microsoft Windows.

So a new album... Atleast that's something

Kim and Kanye not having a nipper

Contrary to rumours that surfaced yesterday, Kim Kardashian is not about to carry Mr West's offspring.

A website had reported yesterday that a close friend of Kim had confirmed that she was pregnant by the rapper. However, Kim has made a statement today rubbishing these claims stating that she was not pregnant... Let alone with Kanye's kiddie.

Illegal Filesharing: The beginning of the end?

Peter Sunde, Carl Lundstrom and Fredrik Neij have failed in their appeal against the judgement that found them guilty of facilitating illegal filesharing on their website, pirate bay.

To make matters worse, their fine has been increased by the court from $2 million to $6.5 million. However, every cloud has a silver lining as their jail terms have been decreased.

The group have vowed to take their case to the European Supreme Court but it is not looking good for the pirate bay founders. The website, that gets around 22 millions hits a month, could be set to go the same way as limewire.

Kanye West - "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" - Review

The months and months of waiting are now over and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (MBDTF) has finally seen the light of day. The album itself did spring a leak a couple of weeks ago but it finally received it’s official release today. The hype surrounding the release has been monumental, fuelled week after week with G.O.O.D. Friday releases but was it worth the wait...
Kanye is undoubtedly one of the most consistent artists in music. He has a unique talent of quality control and has an ability to see the bigger picture when constructing an album. Kanye is one of the few hip hop artists of present that puts real time and effort into crafting a sound that will glue the entire body of songs together. There is no magic formula... He does not put a club banger in here with a slow jam there, Kanye simply works hard on a sound until he achieves logical consistency.
What really is striking about this album is that the listener gets a real sense of the journey that has taken Kanye to this point. There are glimmers of all the previous albums on MBDTF that will please long-term fans. The overall sound is plush, epic and grandiose... This album truly is wonderful.
The production, as you may expect, is tremendous; each song slips into the other with effortless ease. “Gorgeous” which is produced by West and mentor No I.D is a tremendous piece of music; Cudi lends a hand on the hook, a hook that really sets the song alight coupled with the lyrical prowess of West and Raekwon. The album certainly has no shortage of guests; Nicki Minaj (on “Monster”), Raekwon (on “Gorgeous”) and Gil Scott Heron (on “Who Will Survive In America”) are particularly impressive with Heron closing the album with some incredibly words.
So where does MDBTF rank among the others? Hip hop purists may feel that West has not dedicated adequate attention to the lyrical side of the project. There is perhaps some truth to this claim as the album is certainly fuelled by a sound... by music. However, this album certainly fits quite nicely into an increasingly impressive body of work for the Chi Town native. Will this album have the same replay value as the others? As always, only time will tell.
Kanye West is a hip hop artist that has the ability to transcend his niche and really become one of the powerhouses in modern music. Hip hop is now in an era where hits come daily but a truly great and critically acclaimed LP is rare. For a hip hop lover, Mr West... love him or hate him... is an integral cog in the progression of the this art form.

Serge's side hustle

The Kasabian singer/musician has been hard at work providing the score for the much anticipated film "London Boulevard". The film, which stars Ray Winstone and Colin Farrell, is directed by William Monahan who famously worked on "The Departed".

Serge is also currently working on the fourth Kasabian album which apparently represents a new direction for the band.

Human League are back

The Human League are set to release a new album. The album, "Credo", will also be accompanied by a tour that will commence in Norwich on the 29th November.

The new album is the first in almost 10 years.

DMX not clean anymore

X's brief stint of sobriety looks to have come to a particularly predictable end.

The rapper was arrested in Arizona for being in possession of cocaine before being formally charged with numerous other offences.

I can't really pretend I am surprised in the slightest but I was hopeful of X being able to atleast get an album out first before going back to the big house.

Tasty Treat #5

A treat for your Friday

And the best festival is...

Bestival has won this year's "Festival of the Year" at the UK Festival Awards.

The festival also won the "Family Festival of the Year" with Biffy Clyro picking up "Performance of the Year" for their Glastonbury set.

First acts confirmed for "Detox"

It has been confirmed that Game, Jay Z and La Roux will be appearing along with Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Akon on Dr Dre's upcoming "Detox".

It is finally fair to say (after a 10 year wait), that "Detox" IS set for a release as Dre is currently planning to sort out a shoot for the first video.

As expected (and hoped by many), "Under Pressure" has been scrapped following it's early leak.

The album is set for a 25th January release.

Nas and Damian Marley coming to the UK

If you live in London, Manchester or Glasgow then get your ticket buying on and get down to see Nas and Damian Marley. Following rave reviews for the album "Distant Relatives" and for the live show, the pair are heading to the UK to show some love.

The show will consist of music from "Distant Relatives" as well as classics from each of the pair individually.

Beatles on iTunes... world goes crazy

The Beatles hit iTunes yesterday and the digital world has been lapping it up ever since.

It is believed that 25 songs of the top 100 will be from the Fab Four and amazingly all 17 albums will chart in the top 50.

Kasabian - top of the bill

Kasabian are set to headline the Sunday of the Isle of Wight Festival. Following an incredibly successful past year they have been asked to end the festival following Kings of Leon and Foo Fighters who will headline n the Friday and Saturday.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow so get involved!

"Kush" to be first single

Despite saying that he did not want the first track off the long, long awaited "Detox", "Kush" is set to be the first single. Dre did not initially want the 'weed anthem' to be the first single but said that "the internet had spoken on the first single" and "that they were going to run with it".

I am starting to believe that "Detox" may actually happen with it being penciled in for a February release.

Beady Eye for 100 Club Campaign

Liam Gallagher has lent his support to the 100 Club Campaign. Liam described the place that "sorts the men from the boys" and "very rock n roll". Liam is particularly supportive of the cause as the 100 Club was where Oasis got one of their big first shows in London.

The club is set to close before Christmas due to increasing overhead costs but Liam is said to want to play there once more as part of his new band, Beady Eye.

Let's hope this happens.

Remember "Bad vs Evil"... What a track.

Anyways here is another from them, beef over.

DMX is back and is not happy with the industry or Jay Z

DMX is back releasing and is already causing a storm. In the video below, the rapper is heard barking "Fuck Jay Z".

If DMX really is sober and serious about rapping again then this is bad news; personally I would love to see them working together again instead of an ill advised beef.

"Shiny Suit Theory" - Jay Electronica, Jay Z and The Dream

Following all the talk the past few days, it's nice to have something worth listening to.

"Ya'll Don't Really Know" - DMX, Busta Rhymes (prod by Swizz Beatz)

There are few things to really get excited about at the moment but with DMX and Busta on a Swizzy beat... here is one suitably exciting for your Monday

DMX & Busta Rhymes - Ya'll Don't Really Know by theproprietor

And then it was over

Diddy is now fine with the Jay Electronica following his move over to Roc Nation.

Diddy tweeted "Before we start the week off with rumors. I am not mad at Jay Z! I'm not made at anyone! Jz was not the friend I was referring to be clear"

Jay Elec tweeted back "you should be more clear than that too brother. betrayal is a serious allegation. real talk". Also "and you know im gonnabe me so I aint gonna be holding my tongue if you gon be out here emotional and wreckless with it"

Diddy ended it with "Let's start tje weel off the right way! Spread love people +++ energy! Take That! Hate is for chumps! Never hate congratulate! and tweeted at Jay Elec "I proud of you! I'm happy for you. I love you! I congratulate you Im not bad at you"

Jeez... it hurt to include all those typos and mistakes

Fair play to Jay Elec, get it out and get it sorted

Kanye's media trainer quits within 1 week

God bless Kanye for bringing little gems like this coming more or less every day.

Susie Arons was hired by Kanye West to coach him through the controversial "Today" interview with Matt Lauer. Arons had suggested that West should not give the interview in the first place but he was adamant that he wanted to put his side across.

During the commercial breaks Kanye sought Arons' advice on the interview and how he should address certain issues... well it seems that trying to keep West's tongue under control was too much to handle... a couple of days after the interview, Arons quit her post.

50 Cent, Akon and Lenny Kravitz for Michael Jackson's first posthumous album

Epic Records and Jackson's estate have confirmed that 50 Cent, Akon and Lenny Kravitz are to feature on the new MJ album.

The album has been in the news for other reasons this week. There had been speculation that the vocals on some of the tracks was not Jackson's. Sony have sinced denied this claim saying that they had "complete confidence" that the vocals were genuine.

The album is due out on the 14th December; the tracklisting is below:

1. Hold My Hand (Duet with Akon)
2. Hollywood Tonight
3. Keep Your Head Up
4. (I Like) The Way You Love Me
5. Monster (Featuring 50 Cent)
6. Best Of Joy
7. Breaking News
8. (I Can't Make It) Another Day (Featuring Lenny Kravitz)
9. Behind The Mask
10. Much Too Soon

Diddy not happy with Jay Electronica

As we reported yesterday, Jay Electronica ended all the speculation about where was going to be his recording home for the foreseeable future... Roc Nation

However, it seems that Diddy is not happy with Jay Electronica's decision to join forces with Jay Z instead of taking the deal that he had offered. Diddy tweeted "Damn it hurts in a whole other way when someone you felt I mean really felt was your friend, betrays you. It hurts when breathe".

Personally, I think Electronica made the right decision to go with Roc Nation. I mean it is time that Jay Z brought through some strong hip hop acts and got fully behind them. And with all the resources and artists at his disposal... the sky is the limit for Electronica

Detox rumour #101913

Apparently (yes apparently), Dr Dre is gearing up to shoot the first video to accompany the first single off "Detox". We have been hearing conflicting reports the past few months about the album and whether or not it would be getting a release in 2010.

The latest seems to be that the video will be shot over the next few weeks with the album being scheduled for a pre-Christmas release.

Let's play the waiting game again then...

LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip

Following doing shows together, the two groups have recorded and released an album from Abbey Road. The album was made available after the shows had finished but is now available to buy from

If you couldn't be at the shows... definitely get yourself some

Kanye cancels "Today"

Following the stitch up of an interview that took place earlier this week, Kanye West has cancelled his proposed performance on the show which was set to take place on 26th November.

The interview, which Kanye described as a, "set up" basically probed about Kanye's thoughts on George Bush's comments following what West had said in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Also, and if you weren't already sick of it, the Taylor Swift situation came up again... I mean come on now... let it go.

Jay signs Jay

Jay Z has announced the signing of Jay Electronica. Fans will not be suprised by this announcement as this potential deal has be rumoured for the past few weeks.

Due out on 7th February 2011, "Computers and Blues" is sadly set to be the last release under The Streets name. In other good news, the album will be toured in 2011 so at least we will be able to see them once more before they call it a day.

Here's the tracklisting:

"Outside Inside"
"Going Through Hell"
"Roof Of Your Car"
"Puzzled By People"
"Without A Blink"
"Blip On A Screen"
"Those That Don't Know"
"We Can Never Be Friends"
"Trying To Kill M.E."
"Trust Me"
"Lock The Locks"

Game wants back in G Unit

Game has been twittering in a big way today. He says that he wants himself and 50 to put the past behind them and reunite as G Unit. This would be amazing news as The Documentary, whoever wrote the majority of it, was a truly great hip hop album and it would be great to hear some more.

However, 50 has come out on his twitter saying that he has "had no communication with Game in years". Either way, I hope this happens sooner rather than later.

Also, where the hell is "The R.E.D. Album"?

Hatsune Miku

I saw this earlier today, apparently this Hatsune Miku is absolutely huge in Japan. The main thing to know about this 'artist' is that she is a hologram.

Check the crowd, they are loving it

Damon Albarn and Flea going afrobeat

Inbetween working on the new Gorillaz album, Albarn is said to be working with Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers on an afrobeat album. The album will be a collaborative effort and will feature numerous African acts that Albarn met during his African Express project.

In Gorillaz news, he has said that he is three-quarters of the way through the next album.

Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day and to commemorate this year, a two-minute silence is to be hitting the charts this week. The song, 2 minutes of silence, costs 99p and is available on iTunes.

The video for the song features: Thom Yorke, Plan B, Bryan Ferry, Mark Ronson and even David Cameron all observing the 2 minute tribute.

Head over to iTunes and pick it up and hopefully it charts high on Sunday

Amber Rose cheated on Kanye

According to the lyrics of "Blame Game" off Kanye's new album, Amber Rose is believed to have cheated on West during their long-term relationship. Kanye, according to the song, grabbed the model by her neck and choked her.

Well I guess that sheds some light on why Yeezy gave the model a 6 figure settlement after the breakup.

MC Hammer / Jay Z over

Thank fuck for that.

Hammer has come out and said that his beef with Hova is over. Hammer announced over his twitter that "7 days is enough. I'm accepting Jay Z at his 'word' and moving on. I made my point"

T.I. banned from pretty much everything

Following his 11 month sentence for violating the terms of his probation that he is currently serving, T.I will be very limited in what he can when trying to get his career back on track.

T.I. is banned from leaving the United States and must remain in the Northern District of Georgia; however, he is to receive special dispensation to leave the state on matters of work. The rapper will be banned from driving, cannot test positive for drugs, cannot own or possess any firearms and must enter a rehabilitation programme.

So there you go T.I ... something to look forward.

Pulp for Glasto 2011

Following the news that Pulp are set to reform in 2011, William Hill have slashed the odds of the Sheffield band headlining the festival. The odds have dropped from 10/1 to 5/2 following a flurry of bets that have been placed with the bookie.

Pulp have headlined the festival before when they replaced The Stones Roses in 1995. If they were to headline in 2011, this would add to their headline performance at London's Wireless Festival.

Tasty Treat #4

A treat... and it's a goodie

"Bring The Light" - Beady Eye

Today, the new track from Liam Gallagher's post-Oasis band has been put online.

The song, "Bring The Light", is very different from the "Dig Out Your Soul" days and this is a good thing as without Liam and Noel, Oasis should not replicated. Instead the song, despite sounding familiar and retro, seems fresh with a funky edge.

Kanye performs on flight

During a flight between Minneapolis and New York, Kanye got on an in-flight loudspeaker and performed clean versions of his hits "Good Life" and "Gold Digger".

Wiz Khalifa arrested

The "Black and Yellow" rapper has been arrested in Greenville, North Carolina right in the middle of a show at Carolina University.

The talk seems to be that the rapper's arrest has something to do with his weed smoking habit which, he says, costs him $10,000 a month.

Bez the fugitive

The Happy Mondays star is on the run from the police after breaking a restraining order by phoning and texting his ex-girlfriend Monica Ward.

Bez has fled his home as the Greater Manchester Police try to track him down. The police have stated that they may seek other police forces' help with the capture if they are unable to bring him in as soon as possible. Bez has only recently come out of prison following a conviction of assault on Monica Ward.

"All Of The Lights" - Kanye West et al.

  • John Legend;
  • The Dream;
  • Ryan Leslie;
  • Tony Williams;
  • Charlie Wilson;
  • Elly Jackson;
  • Alicia Keys;

Not sure if this is the final version but it's enough to whet your appetite.

Lil Wayne released from Rikers

Contrary to reports earlier on this morning, Lil Wayne has been released from Rikers following 8 months behind bars. According to reports the rapper was released around 7am this morning.

Now, according to Mack Maine, Lil Wayne will be heading to Miami for a welcome home party at a strip club.

Welcome home Weezy!

Gucci Mane - charges dropped

Following the breaking news that Gucci Mane had been arrested for numerous driving offences a judge has dropped the charges for "want of prosecution" but stated that they may be reinstated later.

Gucci is still in prison at this moment because bail was not granted for the destruction of governmental property but he is believed to be due for release soon.

"Love The Way You Lie Part II" - Rihanna and Eminem

Despite both artists originally being against the idea, "Love The Way You Lie" has been given a sequel.

Kanye and Bush go back and forth

Ex President, George Bush Jr, has come out for the first time about Kanye's comments following Hurricane Katrina. Mr West had said, live on TV, that Bush did not care about black people. This week, Bush had appeared on Today with Matt Lauer and said of the comments "He called me a racist, and I didn't appreciate it then. I don't appreciate it now... It's not true".

Yesterday however, Kanye came back at these comments by saying "I really connect with him". He also said that his main issue was the lack of compassion that he saw and that Bush has not rushed down to New Orleans.

Then, rather ridiculously, Kanye compared Bush and Katrina to his own 'big' situation... with Taylor Swift. Kanye said that people had branded him racist since the Taylor Swift incident and that he had been humbled by it all and said that he regretted his comment to Bush.

Jay laughs off Hammer

Following MC Hammer's "Better Run Run" that we posted earlier this week, Jay has laughed off the video that was a response to his verse on "So Appalled".

He told DJ Semtex of 1xtra "I didn't know that [Hammer's financial issues following his success] wasn't on the table! I didn't know I was the first person ever to say it".

He also went on to say that in his book, "Decoded", has some nice things to say about Hammer and his contribution to hip hop and that Hammer will ultimately be embarrassed.

Gorillaz competition... develop new character

Microsoft have announced a competition with IE9 and Gorillaz to create a new character for the Gorillaz world. The character, "The Evangelist", can be designed by anyone and will be voted on before being redrawn by Gorillaz artist, Jamie Hewlett.

The winner will be credited on the competition page and will received a Gorillaz themed goodie bag that will include a signed and framed version of Hewlett's final design.

Head over to the Gorillaz website for more information.

Jay Z has political aspirations

Like Will Smith and P Diddy before him, Jay Z has announced that he would like to run for president. The rapper said "Give me a chance. Maybe in eight years, I'll be the president".

He also jumped to the defence of Obama following a tough night in the US midterms by saying "He's a human being. He's going to need time to figure that out".

A rapper as president... I bet you didn't think you would read that today!

Weezy to be released

Following his last letter from prison, Weezy is due to come out of Rikers on Thursday.

Rumour has it that he will be straight back to work and may even appear with Drizzy on stage as early as Friday night!

Sorry for all the prison news today... I am getting sick of writing it so I assume you are getting sick of reading it!

Gucci Mane arrested - breaking news

Breaking news... and it's a goodun

Gucci Mane has been arrested following numerous traffic offences and had to be restrained with pepper spray.

The charges include: driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light or stop sign, damage to government property, obstruction, no licence, no proof of insurance and other traffic charges.

The rapper has been taken to hospital to check if he is okay after the pepper spraying but then will be whisked over to Fulton County Jail

Gucci.... smh

T.I. goes back

T.I is now officially a prison inmate once again.

He has started his 11 month stretch in an Arkansas prison for a violation of his probation. He was arrested in September for possession of ecstasy whilst with his wife, Tiny.

T.I. will not have an easy ride this time and will be subject to the normal entry process for new inmates. It is hard to have sympathy for anyone to be so stupid whilst on probation but either way... hopefully this will give his the kick up the arse he needs!

Jasmine Mans letter to Minaj

Following the slam poem that Mans threw at Minaj, the poet has come out and stated that the poem was not a diss but a dare, a dare for Nicki to be a "PHENOMENAL WOMAN"

Here's what she had to say:

I do not want Nicki Minaj to be the next Lauryn Hill or MC Lyte, I want her to rap as if women like Assata Shakur and Toni Morrison exist.

“The Miss-Education of a Barbie" is a call to action not only for Nicki Minaj but to all women in the entertainment industry.

My poem targets Nicki Minaj because I am a long time fan and follower of her work. I recognize and applaud her lyrical abilities and the affect she has on women older and younger than myself. If we, as an audience, do not hold up a mirror to our artists, then who will?

The "Miss-Education of a Barbie" questions the message that Nicki Minaj is relaying to her listeners. If Nicki Minaj seeks to simply entertain audiences with shallow concepts then my poem can be written off as irrelevant to her and her fans alike. However, if she seeks to make a difference in musical history and in the lives of her fans around the world then my piece questions her methods of doing so.

Her "Barbie" image is an objectification of womanhood. How can we expect our male rappers to pay homage and respect to women when the voice that is representing us is tainted with sexual innuendos and “child’s play?”

Most rappers say in response to this "look, I didn’t ask to be anyone’s role model, I am just doing me like always." for Nicki, this isn’t true, she did ask to be famous. She engineered herself to be more marketable so that this could happen. Now that it happened, what will she do with that power? Will she be self-serving at the expense of her fans? Or will she be both entertaining, sexy and socially progressive for women? We don't want the Nicki we know to go away, we want the Nicki we know to be 3 Dimensional.

W.E.B. DuBois said all art is propaganda and should be used to uplift and challenge the African American community, and if art does not do such it is useless. Nicki Minaj is too powerful to be useless.

My piece is not a “diss,” it is a dare.

I dare Nicki Minaj to be a PHENOMENAL WOMAN and not a phenomenal "Barbie."

Jasmine Mans

Public Enemy's fans raise enough for new album

Chuck D and Flavor Flav has reached their target of £51,000 to record a new album. Interestingly however, the money has not been fronted by a label or investor... but instead the fans.

Through website "sellaband", fans are asked to invest money in the band in exchange for copies of the album, exclusive merchandise, etc. Despite originally coming up against some controversy when launching the campaign, Chuck declared the whole thing a success.

"Better Run Run" Jay Z diss - MC Hammer

It seems that Lil Kim isn't the only one with dissing on her mind today. MC Hammer has made the following verse replying to the 'diss' that Jay put in his "So Appalled" verse.

I didn't want to post this as it is ridiculous but here it is

Lil Kim prepping a Nicki Minaj diss

Following some comments made on Nicki's "Roman's Revenge", rumour has it that Lil Kim is prepping a diss track to Nicki that will be released at some point today.

Just recently Kim tweeted giving some kudos to Minaj but it seems Nicki thinks it's too little too late.

Watch this space and to see what the fuss is about, see "Roman's Revenge" below.

Picture Moment #5

"Roman's Revenge" - Nicki Minaj and Eminem

This song has caused quite a stir on the internet today. Nicki channels her Roman Zolanski and Em channels his Slim Shady culminating in this track.

To say that opinions have been split on this would be a massive understatement. Swizzy provides the beat and Em/Slim goes hard as always; Nicki/Roman however isn't helped by some questionable wordplay and also takes a few shots at who I can only assume is Lil Kim.

Either way, here it is for you to make your mind up on.

Kid Cudi done with rap?

Kid Cudi has told MTV that he is "over rapping" and that he doesn't get any satisfaction from writing 16s. His new direction is all guitar based and he will be making a new album with his new rock band, The Wizards.

Cudi also told MTV that when Kanye has asked him to get on tracks in the past, he has always made an excuse or avoided it unless Mr West wanted his services for a chorus or hook.

Cudi's new album "Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr Rager" is still set for a release on 9th November but from that point on he intends to work with his new band for the foreseeable future. All I hope is that this was squared with Kanye first... I mean it's not like Cudi has dominated rap and now needs to change direction!

Either way, I thought you may be bothered

The Kinks will never reform

Guitarist Dave Davies has smashed all rumours that The Kinks are to reunite and tour once again. Rumours had been spreading since his brother, Ray Davies, had said that Dave was slowly warming to the idea of a reunion of the band.

Dave told the Daily Mail that a reunion would not be happening as he had no intention of ruining the legacy of the band and described his brother as an "arsehole".

So if you were getting excited...don't bother.

Chemical Brothers for Noel Gallagher's solo release?

Ed and Tom have expressed a desire to work with Noel on his upcoming solo release. The Chemical Brothers have already worked with Noel in the past; they worked on "Setting Sun" and "Let Forever Be" as well a remix of the Oasis track "Falling Down".

Tom said that the offer is there for Noel and that they are very interested to see what he has planned for his first post-Oasis work. Noel is said to be focusing on family life at the moment but fans can only hope that an album is quietly being worked on between changing those nappies!

Keith Richards admits to snorting father

The Rolling Stone guitarist has now opening admitted to the rumours that he snorted his father's ashes.

Richards said of that matter that he had spilled some of his fathers ashes on the table and did not have the heart to simply sweep them away... so in his infinite wisdom decided to snort the ashes. The rest were used to plant an oak tree and he concluded by saying that his father would "love him for it".

Eminem to appear on Minaj debut

Eminem is to appear on Minaj's debut album "Pink Friday". Minaj says that they put the idea of a collaboration out there with no real expectation that Slim Shady would agree.

However, after only turning one beat down, Shady found a gem of a Swizz Beatz beat and spazzed all over it apparently. The track is called "Roman's Revenge" and is believed to be more of the "Monster" Nicki rather than "Bedrock" Nicki.

"Pink Friday" is still set for a November 22nd release but we'll see if they really want it going against Kanye.

Shyne apologises

It seems that Shyne has not stood by his words regarding L.A Reid. He has issued an apology to Reid on reaffirming his loyalty to "100 million sold Reid".

It's not really surprising that Shyne has eaten his words, Reid took a rapper fresh from prison and whacked him on a highly inflated deal. Hopefully this will mean that his album will not be pushed back and Shyne can start paying his fee back.

Jasmine Mans - "Nicki Minaj"

This is perhaps one of the best videos I have seen in a long while. Jasmine Mans slams Nicki Minaj on this one. The poet, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin goes hard with a passion for her work that is wonderful to see.

Joe Budden - "Mood Muzik 4 (A Turn For The Worst)" - Review

Joe Budden has been through numerous stages in his career so far. He was once the radio friendly rapper that was pumping it up but is now a very much more introspective, complete rapper. The Mood Muzik series has been a fan favourite and has regularly proved that the best work of an artist is not always on an album. The other Mood Muzik mixtapes have been favourably received by fans and critics alike. From the under-the-radar MM1, to the highly acclaimed MM2, and most recently (and to a lot of people, the mixtape of all time) MM3.
The Intro to this MM4 is quintessentially mood muzik; a sombre piano from Sean C & LV gets Budden spazzing all over it with strong lyrics that set the tone for the album. One of the most refreshing things about Budden as a rapper is his varied subject matter and that as a fan you get the impression that no subject is off limits; Joey is content to express thoughts that may well hurt his hard-underground reputation. This is apparent with the line “play the corner of the club, laughing at the wannabes, it’s ironic cause they everything I wanna be”; Joey is the king of the underground but it willing to express a desire for a wider audience.
That being said, MM4 is perhaps the most conventional of the whole series. More conventional song structures and hooks are utilised so this may well be the most palatable of the series for a wider audience.  MM4 also has some exciting guest appearances; Fabolous, Banks and Royce kill it on “Remember The Titans” with Styles P and Pusha T helping out on “Dessert 4 Thought” and Slaughterhouse buddies Crooked I and Joell Ortiz also lend a hand. Once again, Killa BH gets it on big time and is as hilarious as ever...apparently he’s taking his talents to South Beach also!
The production on the mixtape is also more polished than on the previous efforts. J Cardim is entrusted with the vast majority and is the standout producer on the whole. The beat of the album could go to one of 10 but “Black Cloud” truly is something special; a true mood muzik beat if I’ve ever heard one.
There is no doubt that Budden is one of the best active rappers in the industry right now. This Mood Muzik is certainly a fan-pleaser and it’s brilliant to hear something that is truly exciting. With a move to Shady and a new Slaughterhouse album on the way, these are exciting times my friend.
