Attenborough and Bjork team up for documentary

David Attenborough and Bjork are teaming up to create documentary for Channel 4.

The documentary - "Attenborough and Bjork: The Nature of Music" will discuss the origins and evolution of music and how technology will shape music in the future.

Pulse Films will oversee the production which will see Attenborough and Bjork reunite after the pair worked together last years during Bjork's triumphant return to the UK



The Stone Roses to release new album?

Reports are surfacing today that the newly reformed Manchester band are set to release new material in 2013.

The band signed a two album deal with Universal Records when they announced their return in 2011.

Apparently, Ian Brown and John Squire have been sending each other ideas for over a year now and are keen to get recording.

The band are also believed to be playing a secret gig for Adidas to celebrate London 2012.

Man Booker Prize - longlist

Described as a more literary list than previous years, the Man Booker Prize longlist has been announced.

Martin Amis ("Lionel Asbo"), Ian McEwan ("Sweet Tooth") and John Banville ("Ancient Light") are the notable exceptions from the longlist which had been criticised last year for not including books with enough 'readability'.

The longlist is as follows:
  • Nicola Barker - The Yips
  • Ned Beauman - The Teleportation Accident
  • Andre Brink - Philida
  • Tan Twan Eng - The Garden of Evening Mists
  • Michael Frayn - Skios
  • Rachel Joyce - The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry
  • Deborah Levy - Swimming Home
  • Hilary Mantel - Bring Up the Bodies
  • Alison Moore - The Lighthouse
  • Will Self - Umbrella
  • Jeet Thayil - Narcopolis
  • Sam Thompson - Communion Town 
The 6 author shortlist is to be announced on 11th September 2012 with the winner being announced on 16th October 2012.

Gore Vidal passes away aged 86

The author, playwright and political commentator has died aged 86.

Vidal is said to have died as a result of complications arising from pneumonia in his home in the Hollywood Hills.

Vidal will be remembered for his extensive literary works, one liners and his famous debates.
